Currently there is a revival of ink blending technique. However nothing comes back the same, there is a modern twist giving a special effect to hand made coloured cards.
Hello Everyone!
Hello Everyone!
Today a new challenge starts at Create a Smile and we are challenging you to make a card expressing gratitude.
There is a revival of ink blending technique. This time it came back to enhance coloured cardstock cards.
The idea is to gradually increase the colour saturation around a focal image by blending several shades of ink and adding the darkest shade to the edges.
To have a beaming effect avoid using masks for the image. Blend inks softly leaving the original cardstock colour visible only around the focal image.
If you are following my blog, you should notice that I am falling again in love with color pencils. I bought my first set of Polychromos pencils in March this year and started exercising.
Pencils colouring tops my list of most relaxing card making techniques. It takes more time than marker or watercolour colouring, but makes me forget all worries and simply enjoy my crafting time.
Modern colour pencils help to create very realistic images like HERE and look amazingly on non-white cardstock.
THIS is one of my latest pencils coloured card with a beaming effect.
For my today's card I combined pencils colouring, ink blending and heat embossing techniques.
To make my card I used three stamps sets from Create A Smile.
The focal image comes from the recently released Pure Poppies set ( SSS | CRT ), which I have used once for THIS CARD.

The focal image comes from the recently released Pure Poppies set ( SSS | CRT ), which I have used once for THIS CARD.
I started with stamping down the sentiment from the Decorated Wishes set and heat embossing it in fine gold powder.
Then I repeatedly stamped down a poppyhead in ink matching the colour of the card panel and coloured the impressions with Polychromos pencils.
Then I repeatedly stamped down a poppyhead in ink matching the colour of the card panel and coloured the impressions with Polychromos pencils.
To achieve the beaming effect I softly blended several Distress ink shades starting from the lightest shade and gradually adding the darker closer to the edges of the panel.
Black Soot Distress ink adds more drama to the panel if blended very softly along the edges. At the end of the post I give the full list of inks used for blending.
To make my final step I heat set the blending with a heat tool first.
I stamped down Dots in embossing ink, covered the impression with bonding powder, melted it and generously coated it with Nuvo glitter.

To assemble my card I glued the panel to a linen coloured card note.
