Today I published a tutorial at blog ArtUgolok: how to add dimension to a simple stamped image.

Я продемонстрирую различные приёмы: растушевку, вырезание и горячее тиснение на примере этой простой открытки.
I will demonstrate three different techniques: colour blending, paper piercing and heat embossing used in this card.

Для создания этой открытки я использовала:

• Набор дизайнерской бумаги KaiserCraft Remember Me, кардсток Papertrey Ink White (белый) и Rustic Cream (кремовый рустик)
• Штампы Altenew Painted Poppy и My Favourite Things Romantic Script Backround
• Штемпельные чернила Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate, Fine Linen; Ranger Distress Ink Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry, Peeled Paint, Brushed Corduroy, Gathered Twigs
• Инструменты: тампоны Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool, фен для горячего тиснения
• Прочее: Bakers Twine Marta Stewart Crafts, вспененный скотч Scotch, полупрозрачный Scotch, чернила для эмбоссинга Ranger Emboss It прозрачные, пудра для эмбоссинга American Crafts Zing! Copper

Ingredients:

• Paper Pad KaiserCraft Remeber Me, CS Papertrey Ink White and Rustic Cream
• Stamps - Altenew Painted Poppy and My Favourite Things Romantic Script Backround
• Inks - Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate, Fine Linen; Ranger Distress Ink Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry, Peeled Paint, Brushed Corduroy and Gathered Twigs
• Tools - Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tools, Heat Embossing Tool
• Various - Bakers Twine Marta Stewart Crafts, foam tape, transparent Scotch, Ranger Emboss It Pen Clear, EP American Crafts Zing! Copper

Начнем с вырезания панели из дизайнерской бумаги размером 12х6 см и напечатаем на ней цветы чернилами Dark Chocolate.
Start with cutting a panel 4 3/4"x2 3/8" from a piece of patterned paper and stamping an image in Dark Chocolate.

На белом кардстоке напечатаем бутон и цветок мака чернилами Dark Chocolate.
Stamp a flower and a bud in Dark Chocolate on a piece of White CS.

Вырежем ножницами цветы и с помощью тампонов Ranger Ink Mini Blending Tool нанесем дистресс чернила. Для большей выразительности лучше смешать несколько оттенков, например Festive Berries и Picked Raspberry для цветка и Peeled Paint для бутона. Лепесток не раскрывшегося бутона я напечала чернилами Festive Berries. Советую, по краю цветка легко пройтись чернилами Peeled Paint.
Cut out the flower and the bud and ink them using Mini Blending Tool. To achieve more realistic look blend several colours, for example Festive Berries and Picked Raspberry for the flower and Peeled Paint for the bud. Slightly distress the lower flower edge with Peeled Paint DI.

Можно добавить небольшой декоративный элемент, я предпочла сделать горячий эмбоссинг сердцевины мака. Для этого я прорисовала тычинки на оттиске ручкой Emboss It, нанесла пудру Zing! Copper и запекла феном для тиснения.
To enhance the centre of the flower heat emboss the stamen. I drew them with a clear Emboss It Pen, applied Zing! Copper EP and heat embossed them.

Цветок и бутон приклеиваем на вспененный скотч на панель с печатью и украшаем её нитью, закрепляя с обратной стороны обычным скотчем.
Adhere the flower and the bud to the panel using a foam tape. Embelish the panel with a baker's twine.

Для основы открытки берем кардсток кремовый рустик и наносим фоновую печать Romantic Script Background. При нанесении чернил на фоновую печать важно использовать несколько оттенков, например Fine Linen, Brushed Corduroy и Gathered Twigs, смешивая их прямо на штампе. Для эффекта выцветшей надписи убираем чернила мягкой салфеткой лёгкими похлопованиями по штампу.
To create a notecard take PTI Rustic Cream CS and stamp it with MFT Romantic Script Background stamp. I suggest blending several inks directly on the stamp, e.g. Fine Linen, Brushed Corduroy and Gathered Twigs. To imitate a faded script tap off some ink with a tissue or paper towel.

Делаем биговку кардстока и с помощью вспененного скотча приклеиваем готовую декоративную панель.
Now fold the notecard and adhere the panel with a foam tape.

5 STEPS TO FAULTLESS STAMPING

How to get an impeccably stamped image or sentiment? How to avoid vague impressions dropping shadows or bald patches on solid images? I describe five easy steps that help me personally to achieve stable results in stamping.  

1 Stamp on a Soft Surface

Stamping on a hard surface is one sure way to get a pale uneven image. Despite working on a craft mat you may not get a stable stamping result. Underlie the cardstock with several scrap paper sheets, so you make a cushion under your card and stamped image lines come out even.

2 Tune Your Stamp

Some factory residue from manufacturing process on new stamps, oil remains and fibres from baby wipes or stamp cleaning solutions on favourite stamps often prevent even inking and cause ink beading on a surface. Lightly rub a soft pencil eraser over the surface of the stamp image before inking it.

3 Distribute Pressure Equally

If your acrylic block is bigger than the stamp, what is often a case with sentiment stamps or small details stamps, chances are high that one side of the impression will be extra bold or will drop "a shadow". To prevent the acrylic block from rocking and to distribute pressure equally add one or two stamps from the same set.

4 Thoroughly Ink Your Stamp

The very best ink may be beading on the stamp surface, and the stamped image may have pale areas. This is a re-occurring  problem with solid stamps. Rub ink into your stamps with circular motions, not only light taps often seen in videos.

5 Position Your Stamp Correctly

Positioning your stamp correctly may be a challenge although acrylic blocks usage. The sentiment is placed off the line or center, and layers of multi-step image do not match. Use a positioning tool, e.g. Inkadinkado Stamp-a-ma-jig, to place the stamp precisely where you want it. It includes a transparent imaging sheet and a T-shape tool.

Сегодня мы открыли 7й этап Новогоднего Тег Парада в блоге Совушки Славии. Обязательный элемент этого этапа - чипборд.
The 7th challenge of New Year Tag Parade launched at Sovushka Slavia blog today. The code word is Wood Veneer.

Мои запасы чипборда довольно скромные, это первый раз, когда я использую этот декоративный элемент. Поэтому показываю мини мастер-класс про самодельный чипборд из кардстока.
I do not have many of wood veneer embellishments, and this is my first time I use it in my project. I'll show how to make your own wood veneer from a cardstock.

Необходимые материалы:

• нож для вырубки, выбирайте простую форму;
• машинка для вырубки и тиснения;
• белый кардсток;
• клей типа ПВА, который не слишком быстро схватывается;
• чернила, пудра для горячего тиснения и фен, можно просто чернила, если хотите декорировать иначе;
• и чернила Distress Inks оттенков Antique Linen и Walnut Stain и, конечно, спонжики для нанесения чернил.

You will need:

• a simple die
• die-cutting machine
• white cardstock
• a glue, that tacks not very fast
• embossing ink and powder, heating gun or just inks, if you want to decorate it without embossing
• Distress Inks: Antique Linen and walnut Stain, as well as sponges or daubers

Начнем с вырезания фигуры, нам необходимо сделать 4 вырубки:
We shall start with die cutting four shapes:

Три вырубки склеиваем вместе клеем типа ПВА, который не слишком быстро схватывается и позволяет выровнять слои по контуру:

Кладём склееные вырубки под пресс. У меня это толстый словарь:

Украшаем по своему усмотрению четвертую вырубку. Я сделала горячее тиснение. Склеиваем с трехслойной вырубкой и кладём под пресс.
Decorate the fourth die cut. I heat embossed a golden frame. Glue it to the three-layer die cut and put under your press.

Начинаем тонирование. Я использовала Distress Inks от Ranger, но можно воспользоваться и другими водорастворимыми чернилами (dye-inks).
Let's start sponging. I use Ranger Distress Inks, but you can use other dye inks of similar colours.

В первую очередь тонируем Antique Linen всю вырубку круговыми движениями от края к центру:
Firstly, I sponged my die cut with Antique Linen moving from edges to the center:

Затем с помощью Walnut Stain тонируем край, спонж держим перпендикулярно краю вырубки:
Then I sponged the edge with Walnut Stain, moving my blending tool against the edge:

У нас получился вполне реалистичный чипборд из бумаги:

Finally we have a true wood veneer made of cardstock:

А вот и два моих тега для совместного проекта, в обоих я использую "фальшивые" чипборды, но олень - настоящий из дерева.
Now I share my two tags, both made with fake wood veneers, however the reindeer is a real wooden one.
