I am so excited to ink up the Bitty Bears stamps and to add a new way of using Big Alphabet and Words steel dies. Has ever one word which you can cut with a steel die kept you from buying it? There is a way to "stretch" your metal die!

С удовольствием испачкала чернилами новый набор силиконовых штампов Bitty Bears, чтобы ещё раз использовать крупный словарный нож для вырубки Celebrate. Вы когда-нибудь отказывались покупать нож, потому что можно сделать только одно слово? Давайте попробуем "растянуть" нож для вырубки!

For my card I used Celebrate Speech Bubble metal die by My Favorite Things, which I am enjoying a lot lately. Please, see the Distress Bokeh card with this die HERE and the stamped and coloured card with the same die HERE.

Let's play Scrabble with die cuts. There are so many words that can be made with these letters. Here are some examples that make sense for cards: Cereal, Beetle (makes me want to colour Bitty Bears as ladybugs, LOL!), React, Care, Relate, Bear, Alter, Later, Act, Real, Art. Of course, I chose Create.

Tips on making a Scrabble card:

• Stamp small images with Tuxedo Black Memento Dye ink down to a piece of white card stock. Use a negative die cut as a guide for positioning stamps on letters to be die cut.
• Colour images with Copic Sketch markers. Memento Dye ink is one of the best inks to be used for colouring with alcohol markers, because it will not blur.
• Play Scrabble with the die cut letters. To glue the letters to a kraft card base again use a negative die cut as a ruler. 
• Stamp the sentiment on kraft card base under the word. I inked up only part of the phrase, having omitted the ending "for You".
• Adhere a coloured die cut image of Bitty Bear using X-Pressit Foam Mounting Tape. It is 2 mm (5/64") thick and helps perfectly to pop it up.
• Die cut a tiny heart from red card stock and adhere it with Glue Dots. 

Как сделать такую открытку?

• Сделайте оттиски изображений чернилами Tuxedo Black Memento на белом кардстоке. Используйте негатив от вырубки слова Celebrate как подсказку для размещения штампов.
• Раскрасьте оттиски спиртовыми фломастерами Copic Sketch. Чернила Tuxedo Black Memento не текут при использовании спиртовых маркеров.
• Вырубите буквы и придумайте новое слово. Чтобы ровно приклеить буквы на крафт основу открытки опять же используйте негатив от вырубки.
• Сделайте частичный оттиск фразы из набора Bitty Bears. Я опустила окончание фразы "for You". В переводе на русский меня получилось: "Создай что-нибудь маленькое".
• Приклейте раскрашенного мишку вспененным скотчем X-Pressit Foam Mounting Tape. Впервые попробовала этот скотч, теперь он мой незаменимый помощник, потому что его ширина 18 мм и толщина 2 мм (!!!). 
• Сделайте вырубку сердечка из комплекта парных ножей. Клейкие точки Glue Dots помогли мне самым аккуратным способом приклеить сердечко.

Bonus Tip:

Die cut a word twice and get more options with words! Raclette, Recall, Career, Better, Retreat and so on.

For my card I used Celebrate Speech Bubble die and The Whole Herd stamps and dies set by My Favorite Things. I created my own pattern by stamping and colouring a few images from the stamp set and then die cutting the word out of it. To keep it Clean and Simple I used only die cut letters, which I glued to a soft grey card base.

Для своей открытки я использовала нож Celebrate Speech Bubble и комплект штампов и ножей The Whole Herd от американской компании My Favorite Things. Я сделала собственный фон с рисунком, напечатав несколько изображений и раскрасив их маркерами Copic Sketch, а затем сделала вырубку ножом Celebrate Speech Bubble. Чтобы выдержать работу в стиле Чисто и просто, использовала только буквы от вырубки, которые приклеила на светло-серую основу открытки.

The words are heat embossed in fine white powder. The piglet is popped up on a double layer of foam tape for extra dimension.

CARD MAKING TRENDS 2017 - BIG ALPHAS AND WORDS DIES

Usually Big Alphabet cutting dies are more expensive than silicone stamps sets. Every card maker hesitates to buy an alphabet set if sees a limited usage of it. Can you think of more than three or five ways to use these steel dies? If you answered yes, go grab them! The Big Alphabet and Words dies are trendy now.

Card Making Trend #2 - Big Alphabet and Words Dies

Big alphabet dies are sets of steel letter-shaped dies for die cutting with machines. There are several dies sets available currently in the market from Altenew, CZ Design, and My Favourite Things. 

If you want to make quickly several cards based on one main step (2-For-1), enjoy playing with various techniques, are keen on extending use of your stamps stash or just love making shaker-cards, big alphabet dies are made for you.

10 Ways To Use Big Alphabet Dies

Here are some ideas and examples for using Big Alphas for making cards.

1. Inlaid Die Cuts, a good technique for cards to be sent by post, results in flat and not so heavy cards. Postage fee always matters for Holiday Season.

2. Use foam tape or several layers of card stock to add dimension to your card. Poped-up die cuts are always striking.

3. Stamp images down to the die cuts to make a strong focal element.

4. Stamp over the die cuts

5. Die cuts make a Tone-on-Tone technique simple, specially for white-on-white style cards.

6. Combine with sentiments stamps - Another take on using the Big Alphas is to replace a word in a sentiment stamp with a die cut, positive or negative.

7. Use together with big background stamps 

8. Make a shaker-card filled with one tone round sequins or multi-colour mix of sequins, heart-shaped crystals or ice cube jewels.

9. Use glitter card stock for festive look.

Tip:

Think of your own short funny words or copy sentiments from stamps manufacturers. I love several sentiments from My Favorite Things, e.g. hogs and kisses, see you soon, ski you soon.

I recently added Celebrate Speech Bubble die to my stash and today I am sharing the first card made with it.

I started with creating a bokeh background for the card panel. You can see a quick video on my Youtube channel about making bokeh effect with Distress inks and masks.  Then die cut the speech bubble and repeated die cutting with glitter card stock. The panel is glued to a white card base, while letters are popped up with foam tape.

How to Stretch non-Christmas Stamps?

Do you know how to stretch your stamps in a fun and creative way? Every card maker wants to get as much use as possible out of the existing craft stash. How to use a stamp without cutting it or masking while stamping? Hello everyone, I wish you a nice start of the week.

Каждый кардмейкер старается сделать с одним набором штампов как можно больше разнообразных открыток. Как использовать штамп, не разрезая его и не используя маски при отштамповке? Всем привет, желаю вам отличного начала недели!

Holiday Season is coming, and we start inspecting our craft stash and checking for new Christmas releases. But how about making a Christmas card with non-Christmas stamps set? It can be a bigger fun to re-style some of all season stamps. I have done this already for Christmas 2016.

Приближается Новогодний период, и все мы проверяем свои скрап-запасы, следим за зимними новинками от производителей. А что если использовать не новогодний штамп для рождественской открытки? Для меня это еще большее удовольствие. Когда-то я уже показывала подобную открытку в своём Instagram профиле.

For my card I used Mermazing, this Summer released set and combined it with a sentiment from Santa's Elves set.

Для своей открытки я использовала летний набор штампов и ножей Mermazing и зимний Santa's Elves.

I started with masking off lower part of a piece of white card stock and creating a bokeh effect with Distress inks and circles out of masking paper. Before removing masks I splattered gold paint and heat set splatters with my heat gun.

В первую очередь я замаскировала нижнюю часть панели из кардстока и с помощью самодельных круглых масок и Distress чернил создала фон с эффектом боке. Не снимая маски, сделала кляксы золотым спреем и подсушила его феном.

Now it is time to re-style the mermaids. I absolutely adore these little girls, but sure they can be easily turned in party girls. I die cut and stamped down three sitting mermaids. Cut off their tails and coloured them with Copic Sketch markers as blondes wearing black dresses.

Ну а теперь пора начать ре-стайлинг русалок. Я сделала вырубки и оттиски на вырубках сидящей русалки. Убрала хвосты и раскрасила русалок маркерами Copic Sketch. Мои русалки превратились в нарядных блондинок.

To finish off the card I heat embossed a part of the sentiment on a stripe of dark green cardstock and the other part stamped down in black to the card panel. The assembled panel I adhered to the soft gray card base using double-sided tape.

Для завершения работы сделала горячий эмбоссинг части надписи из набора Santa's Elves на полоске из темно-зелёного кардстока, а вторую часть напетачала прямо на панели. Готовую панель приклеила на основу из светло-серого кардстока двухсторонним скотчем.
