Are you seeking for a new way to use stamps from your stash? Here is a simple technique to stretch stamps for stamping addicts.
Hello Everyone!
Hello Everyone!
Today a new challenge starts at Create a Smile and we are challenging you to make masculine cards.
I really like so called crowd stamps with many critters making a crowd. These stamps are available from multiple companies now such as Picket Fence Studios, Mama Elephant, Newton's Nook and possibly others.
I do not own such a stamp and wondered if I could use any of my sets to make a similar card. It took me four stamps and a piece of a mask paper to create my own crowd stamped card.
For my today's card I picked one the wittiest stamps set available in the market this Summer - Create A Smile Gull Gang (SSS | CRT) set.
To make this card I started stamping from the lower part of the card using paper masks to cover the stamped impressions and going up.
All images are stamped in alcohol friendly black ink (SSS | AMZUS) and coloured with Copic Sketch markers.
I wanted to bring attention to three birds and coloured them brighter or added some funny details to them. Can you find these three cool guys?
To finish off my card I glued the card panel to a black card base and popped the sentiment banner with a super thick foam tape.
If these seagulls made you smile today, you might be interested to see other cards I made with the same stamps set. Just click the pictures below to jump over to the posts about them.
I hope you enjoyed this card and found my tips for crowd stamping helpful. May you have any questions, ask me in comments below. I will be glad to answer.
Thank you for stopping by! I hope to see your cards in our gallery soon. Have a great day!

Tips on Masking for Crowd Stamping
- Select several images from a set, preferably the same size for easy positioning.
- To add some interest to a card pick different images or add cute details to images. I used a fish and an eye cover for two of my seaguls.
- Stamp an image several times down to a mask paper and fussy cut out images along the outline to avoid white space around impressions.
- For crowd stamping you will need a paper with good tacking ability, because it will be re-positioned a lot of times.
- Specialty mask papers do not soak in ink and will not bleed through as Post It notes. It is sad to discover after stamping the last row of images, that a mask bleed through and spoilt the whole card panel.
