April 6th is Tartan Day. I am sharing a male card inspired by this day and explaining how to use patterned paper in hand made cards in a creative way.
Hello Everybody!
Today I am sharing a recipe for a card combining a patterned paper and one focal image. You can make this card very quickly with limited supplies.
One sheet of the patterned paper served several purposes.
The focal image and the sentiment for my today's card come from the Timber stamps ( PNK | SSS ) and dies set ( PNK | SSS ) by Pink and Main.
A sheet of the tartan paper helped me to complete the card, but not only.

The focal image and the sentiment for my today's card come from the Timber stamps ( PNK | SSS ) and dies set ( PNK | SSS ) by Pink and Main.

How To Make This Card:
- Start with die cutting and stamping a lumberjack image from the Timber stamps and dies set ( PNK | SSS ).
- Using the colour palette of the tartan paper colour the image with alcohol markers. I prefer Copic Sketch markers for the moment.
- Stamp and heat emboss in fine white powder the sentiment from the same set onto a Pure Poppy card stock stripe.
- Trim a Soft Stone card stock panel down to 5 1/4" by 4" and die cut a round opening in the upper right corner using one of the Simon Says Stamp NESTED CIRCLES Wafer Dies (SSS).
- With the bigger die cut out a layering mat from the tartan paper from Echo Park CELEBRATE WINTER Paper Pad (SSS).
- Apply Multi Medium Matte glue along the edge of the tartan mat and adhere it underneath the Soft Grey panel.
- Glue the assembled panel to a white card stock note.
- Pop the sentiment strip and the lumberjack image up with a thick foam tape.
Four Reasons To Use The Patterned Paper:
- Patterned paper creates a background for a focal image
- It makes the focal image stand out.
- Every pattern sets a specific mood for a card.
- Professionally designed patterned paper helps to pick the colour scheme for a hand made card.
